New Search..

Hello to all readers...It most grateful that I can writing again in this blog..Here I have some information to tell and share with all readers..I has discoverd new search about Rainbow Rose..Maybe some of you already know or hear about this flowers..But for those who just first time knew about this..Let just discovered about this flower...I'm also just knew about this flower when to create this blog...Here's the story..

HISTORY

In 2004, two dutch companies, River Flowers and F.J. Zandbergen, experimented and successfully grew a rose that had its petals rainbow colored. As petals get their nourishment through stem, the idea is to split the stem into several channels and dip each one in a different colored water. This way all the colors will be drawn by the stem into petals and resultant rose will have all the colors in it. The same method can be applied to other flowers especially to Chrysanthemum and Hydrangea. You can use the same idea to color any flower, anyway you like.

WHAT IS RAINBOW ROSE?

The rainbow rose is a rose which has had its petals artificially colored. The method exploits the rose's natural processes by which water is drawn up the stem. By splitting the stem and dipping each part in different colored water, the colors are drawn into the petals resulting in a multicolored rose. With these changes to the rose, it causes them to not live as long as an uncolored rose.

METHOD TO MAKE IT:

Choose a white rose. Start with a white or very lightly colored rose for making a real rainbow rose. For the purest color, a white rose is best.
  • If you cannot find a white rose to use, try a peach, pale yellow, or light pink rose. Avoid using red roses or dark pink roses; dark colors will not work because the deep shade prevents the color from showing through.
  • Note: That the stage the rose is in will affect how fast or slowly the dye takes hold. A rose that is near its blooming stage, or already in its blooming stage, will accept the color more readily. On the other hand, a rose in its bud stage will take much longer.
Prepare the Rose.

  1. Trim the stem. Cut the stem of the rose down so that it is roughly the length you want it to be.
  2. Use sharp scissors or a sharp knife to cut the bottom of the stem at an angle.
  3. To determine the proper length, base the stem height on the height of the containers you will be dyeing the rose in or the height of the vase you plan to store the rose in afterward. The stem of the rose needs to be only a little taller than the length of the final vase. It should not be too much taller than the height of the dyeing containers though, or else the rose will become top-heavy and will not sit well inside the containers.
     2.   Split the stem into sections. Use a sharp blade to split the end of the stem into                         multiple sections. You can use either scissors or a knife, but either way, the tool you                     choose must be sharp. The stem of a rose is fairly woody, and if you use a dull blade,                   you could end up causing the stem to break or tear the rose.
  • The cut should extend from the bottom of the rose up to about 1 inch (2.5 cm) away from the base of the petals.
     3.    Divide the stem into two to four sections. If you cut too many sections into the                         stem, you risk weakening the stem.
  •   Note that the number of sections you cut the stem into will determine the number of             colors in your rainbow rose.

Adding the Colours.

  1. Mix several colors of food coloring into cups of water. Fill a few tall, narrow containers with water and mix in a few drops of food coloring into each container. Choose one different color for each container.
  • As mentioned already, the number of colors should match the number of sections you split the stem into.
  • The more food coloring you use, the brighter the colors will be in the resulting rainbow rose.
  • The best containers will be narrow and sturdy. Avoid using containers with wide lips since the split sections of stem will need to stretch into each container, and wider lips might be harder to stretch the stem sections into. A popsicle mold works well, as do small votive glasses.

       2.    Place each stem section into a different container. Carefully place each split                stem section into a different container of colored water, making sure that the cut                      ends are fully immersed.
  • Exercise extra caution when bending and positioning the stem sections. The split stem is especially weak, and if you move the sections with too much force, you might end up snapping them on accident.
      3.   Position the containers of colored water directly next to each other to keep the entire structure more secure and the limit the amount of space you need to stretch the stems over.

          4.   Let the roses sit for a few days. You should notice some color change within                         the first 30 minutes, but for a vibrant rainbow rose, you will need to let the rose sit                   in its dye bath for a few days.
  • It may take a full week before the colors become notably vibrant, but after a single day, each of the petals should be tinted with color.[2]
  • The dyed water will be absorbed through the stem of the rose just like standard water would be taken in. As the dyed water travels throughout the parts of the rose and hydrates the petals, the dye will be deposited in the petals. Since the petals are white, the dye shows through easily.

THE ROSE THAT HAD DONE MADE.

Uses & How To Make Compost..

Assalammualaikum and hello to readers..Today I want to write about uses of compost and how to make it.Compost is the main character in planting flowers.Without compost, the the planting that we plant will not grew up well.So now,to those who don't know what the uses of compost and how to make the compost, here I want to give the thecnics...Compost is usually used commercially in landscaping, on golf courses, in parks and on sports turfs.

THE USES OF COMPOST

Lawns

New Lawns
Apply 2.5 cm - 5 cm (1" - 2") of compost and rototill to a depth of 13 cm (5") before you sod or seed your lawn.
Seeded Lawns
For seeded lawns, apply the seeds and a slight dusting of compost to cover. (Compost helps the seeds grow faster.)
Once you have laid the sod or seeded your lawn, water thoroughly.

Flower Beds

Existing Beds
For your existing beds, add about 2.5 cm (1") of compost and work into the soil using a rake, hoe or rototiller. (A rototiller is a landscaping tool with engine-powered rotating blades that lift and turn soil). Water until the entire root zone is saturated.
New Beds
For new beds, add 2.5 cm - 5 cm (1" - 2") of compost and rototill or mix to at least a 13 cm (5") depth, then plant and water the flowers.

Vegetable Gardens

Apply about 2.5 cm (1") of compost and rototill to a depth of 13 cm (5"). If your soil is poor quality, you might need to compost yearly until the soil improves.

Be careful not to apply too much compost as many vegetables won’t grow in abundance if there’s too much nitrogen in the soil. (Too much nitrogen increases soil acidity and reduces other nutrients.)

Topdressing

Aerate (ventilate) the entire area before topdressing using an aerator. (Aerating breaks the soil’s surface by poking holes into the earth and bringing oxygen to the soil.)

Spread 3 mm - 1.25 cm (1/8"-1/2") of compost evenly over the area using a rake, then water the area thoroughly. (Watering helps the compost move through the soil’s surface.)

Mulch/Weed Supression

General Mulching
Mulch is a natural or artificial layer on top of soil that reduces erosion and inhibits weed growth. For mulch applications around landscaped plants, use a 5 cm (2") layer of compost.
Apply the compost and spread with a rake to distribute the compost evenly. Try not to overmulch, or you might smother the root systems.

Around Trees
When mulching around trees, try not to put too much mulch around the trunk as this creates the perfect home for rodents!

Arrange the mulch so that water flows away from the tree trunk. This will lessen the chance of crown rot. When mulching, choose a coarse-textured compost to reduce weeds and provide a thick cover to the area.

Tree Planting

Rototill the area about three to five times the diameter of the root ball of the tree.

Before planting the tree, add 30 per cent compost to the original soil and mix thoroughly outside of the hole.

Place the tree in the hole and use the compost-soil mixture as backfill around the root ball. Water the area thoroughly.

Make your own compost now..

A good compost is better for your plant

HOW TO MAKE COMPOST.

A compost can be defined a mixture of variuos decaying subtances, such as dead leaves, kitchen scraps, or manure compost is used for fertilizing soil. Here are the step to make your own compost.

  • Set up a little bin or canister with a lid under your kitchen sink, or right next to it on the counter. Add your kitchen scraps to this until it is full. Take a second to chop anything big and/or really firm into smaller chunks, about 2-3 inch diameter, before adding it to your container.
  • Set up your main compost pile outside.  There are many options for setting up your compost pile, and what you choose depends on where you live, what kind of space you have, and how much you want to spend.  Here’s a quick run-down of the possibilities:

  1. Make a pile directly on the ground, without a container. This works if you live in an area where don’t have to worry about raccoons or neighbors who might be offended.  It’s free, and it’s easy to turn the pile.
  2. Build a compost bin.  You can use old pallets, wood and wire, or wire mesh. This is relatively cheap and easy.  The best size is about 3 x 3 x 3 feet.
  3. Use a trash can and drill holes in the sides and top. This is also pretty cheap and very easy.  It’s a little more difficult to turn the pile this way, though, but it’s possible;  this has been our primary method.
  4. Purchase a composting tumbler. These are pricey but oh, so lovely.  You just put in your composting materials and turn the tumbler from time to time.  Voila: compost.
  • Add your materials to the compost pile as you accumulate them, and make sure you turn it regularly, so the ingredients will mix together and oxygen will do its work in breaking them down.
However,if you want to make your own compost, make sure that balancing the contents of your compost first. It is important to have a good balance of materials in your compost.Basically, you 2 categories you need to consider :

  • GREENS ( NITROGEN )
GreenS include grass, fruits, veggies, plants, manures and other kitchen scraps.
  • BROWNS ( CARBON )
Browns include leaves, bark, wood chips and newspaper.

It may take a little time for you to find the proper balance for your compost pile.  You can ask neighbours to save grass clippings and leaves, and your city may have a facility where large brush is converted into wood chips; get creative about resources!  However, plenty of people are able to make their own compost without needing to go to any of these extra lengths.
In the end, your compost will be ready to use when it is a dark, rich, slightly moist soil-like substance, having no bad odor, but instead smelling like you would imagine the scent of a forest floor.
" Give it a try and you will discover that it making your own compost is much easier than it sounds. "

SUNFLOWERS

The sunflower is one of my favorite flowers, and its plentiful seeds are packed with health benefits that can help you from head to toe. They’re easily available all year round, and just a scant handful of them can mean dramatic improvement in the way you feel.
Here’s a short list of what they ( sunflowers ) can do for you:
  • They  control cell damage, thus playing a role in preventing cancer. This is because sunflower seeds are a good source of selenium, which is a proven enemy of cancer.
  • They contain bone-healthy minerals. Besides calcium, your bones need magnesium and copper to stay strong. Sunflower seeds have both these minerals. As a bonus, they also contain Vitamin E, which helps ease arthritic pain.
  • They keep you calm. Yes! The magnesium in sunflower seeds is reputed for soothing the nerves, thus easing away stress, migraines and helping you relax.
  • They bring a glow to your skin. The star in this role: Vitamin E again, which combats UV rays and keeps skin youthful.

HIBISCUS FLOWER FOR HAIR

Hibiscus (also known as rosemallow or jamaica) has many natural properties which have been valued through out the ages. One of its traditional uses is hair care.
This flower is used for curing dandruff. Hibiscus extracts are used in hair oils, shampoos, hair tonic and conditioners.
Many Ayurvedic hair oil formulations contain hibiscus. The crushed dried flowers are used as a hair dye as each hibiscus flower yields a natural dark purplish dye which may be used to colour premature grey hairs.
The human hair is made up of approximately 85% complex protein called Keratin, the balance consists of water, lipids and melanin pigments with trace minerals like calcium, magnesium, copper, iron. phosphorus, silicone etc. There is nothing as attractive as a thick head of hair which glows with natural health. To maintain this we need good hair care regimen that involves the following:

  • Hair cleansing which involves removal of accumulated sebum, scalp debris and residues of hair grooming preparations. This should ideally be done on alternate days.
  • Hair conditioning which involves making good the natural deficiencies of sebum and repairing the hair cuticle. This makes hair smooth, soft, shining and elastic.
  • Scalp stimulation which involves in providing nutrients and hormonal support to hair by massaging the scalp and nourishing it.

The common problem faced is hair loss which can occur due to one or more of the following reasons:

  • Dandruff
  • Harsh shampoos which have a strong chemical base
  • Pollutants in the air
  • Hair colours, perming and straightening lotions
  • Heredity
  • Physical weakness and lack of proper nutrition
  • Stress

A very simple traditional recipe is to cook some red hibiscus flowers on low fire in coconut or sesame oil and let it cool. This oil is then massaged into the hair. Red Hibiscus or Jabakusum as it is known in Hindi, is known for its hair growth related properties. Care should be taken to rinse the oil out with very mild shampoo otherwise it will nullify the good effect of the oil.

In case some people do not like to oil their hair, the hibiscus flowers can be made into pulp in the mixer and applied to the hair for thirty minutes and then rinsed out with water.

The benefits of Hibiscus treatment:

  1. Prevents hair loss
  2. Enhances growth of hair
  3. Discourages split ends
  4. Thickens hair
  5. Prevents premature greying of hair

Here is a delightful recipe using the hibiscus flower taken from Anita Grant.
Hibiscus Hair Tonic
Great for covering greys, providing a rich deep dark colour to your hair.
Suitable for those with dark red, brown and/or black hair.

Uses:

To strengthen the hair from the papila root to tip
To cover premature greys
To immediately seal the hair cuticles, stop hair breakage and repair split ends

Preparation time required:

10 to 15 minutes
Over low heat, warm 450-500 ml of water
Add 20-30 dried Organic Hibiscus flowers
Simmer, making sure NOT to let the mixture boil or evapourate - too much heat will destroy the goodness in the Hibiscus.
Remove from heat.
The water would have turned a dark purply-pink.
Cool and store in a clean dry jar overnight
In the morning, wash your hair with our Babassu Shampoo Bar, rinse, and then instead of using your regular commercial conditioner use the Hibiscus infusion to condition your hair and scalp. ( if you dont have the shampoo bar mentioned above...use what is in your regimen).

Do not rinse out.

Cover hair with a towel or cling film.
Leave the infusion on your hair for at least 45 minutes to an hour.
Rinse until all of the colour is gone.
Your hair and scalp will look & feel soft & moisturised.
and your greys will be naturally dyed & nourished..

*Note:

_Hibiscus *does stain clothes* so make sure you are wearing something old that you don't mind staining._

If you are using this tonic to cover grey hair then in order for the natural pigment of the Hibiscus to remain in your cuticle you will need to use this tonic at least once a week to maintain the colour.
I have a bag of dried Hibiscus flowers with my herb collection...just waiting to be used.  I will be trying this little tonic on my next wash day....I will keep you guys posted....until then...

I am also going to infuse some with oil ( not sure which oil, yet ) probably olive oil...as always I will keep you fabulous ladies posted.

                                                                                                               ENJOY!!!

Ways To Prevent Insects..

Hello everyone..tonight I want to share some tips on how to prevent insects from plants.I know,to those who love on planting, will can't avoid from some insects that bothering thier plants...

" Attacked by aphids? Stricken with snails? Sometimes the smallest pests can do the most damage in your garden. But you don't have to resort to chemical-based pesticides to discourage - or downright evict - bugs, slugs and other small garden enemies. Here are some tried-and-true tactics for keeping them away, naturally: "

  • Fertilize and water your plants regularly. Insects are less likely to infest healthy and well-nourished plants.
  • Pull weeds around your plants as well. Insects such as aphids and
stinkbugs feed on weeds; if they surround your plants, they're likely to attack them as well.
  • Plant herbs and flowers around your plants. Basil helps ward off whiteflies, which are harmful to tomatoes, and oregano can help protect tomato and cucumber plants. Carrots and sunflowers help deter pests from your tomato plants. Nasturtiums and marigolds help protect both tomato and cucumber plants.
  • Add natural predators. Soldier beetles, tachinid flies and braconid wasps feed on striped cucumber beetles, which can help protect your cucumber plants. Parasitic wasps will help eliminate leafminers and stink bugs from your tomato plants. Bigeyed bugs and minute pirate bugs attack tomato fruitworms that can destroy the fruit and stems of your tomato plants. Attract insect predators by growing plants that feature small flowers, such as daisies, dill and coneflower. These plants will encourage predators of insects and beneficial insects including ladybugs, nematodes, bats and birds.
  • Cover your organic vegetables-Spunbound Polyester Rowcover keeps out pests but allows light, air & water to get through.
  • Spray neem oil - Oils & seeds from the neem tree have been used in India for centuries. It's a great, low-toxicity insecticide & fungicide.
  • Spray vinegar - Spray household vinegar on your weeds. The acidic water kills them especially on sunny days.
  • Use botanical insecticide-Pyrethrum spray or dust is made from a daisy-like flower grown in Kenya. The flower is ground into powder. It protects against ants, aphids, roaches, fleas & flies but is not good for cats.
  • Weed your garden well and regularly to minimize hiding places for insect pests and to prevent the weeds from competing with your vegetables for water and nutrients.
  • Remove infested plants to prevent the pests from spreading to neighboring plants.
  • Place traps around the outside of your garden. Pheromone traps attract insects during their mating cycles, and yellow sticky traps are effective against flying insects such as aphids, whiteflies and fungus gnats.

Benefit Gardening..

Gardening can provide much more than adding beauty to your yard. Let me show you the numerous benefits of gardening:

1) Gardening is good for your mind and body
Gardening is a great form of exercise. Besides obvious weight lose benefits gardening has been proven to reduce stress, lower blood pressure, lower cholesterol, and decrease depression. (Eva Shaw, PhD, author of Shovel It: Nature’s Health Plan) In fact, studies show that merely looking at a garden or plants can generate changes in such things as blood pressure, heart activity, muscle tension, and brain electrical activity. Through colors and textures gardeners can invoke emotions of calm, tranquility, and happiness. Gardening is more than a feel good pastime; it has evolved into a form of therapy for our body and soul.

2) Impact the environment
We always hear about the negative impact humans have on the environment, but by gardening we can truly "go green" to benefit the earth. Plants act as highly effective air cleaners, absorbing carbon dioxide, plus many air pollutants, while releasing clean oxygen and fragrance. Also, a dense cover of plants and mulch holds soil in place, reducing erosion and keeping sediment out of streams, storm drains and roads.
By planting new gardens, such as rain gardens, we can make use of the rain water run-off and help prevent harmful pollutants from making it in our streams and lakes. Native gardens, like rain gardens, are not only good for the environment they are low maintenance, beautiful, and easy on the wallet!
Besides being good for the environment gardens have environmental gains for us. It has been proven that an effective, environmental landscape design can cool your home in summer and warm it in winter. Energy efficient landscaping can actually reduce your energy costs by up to 20%, according to the Plants for Clean Air Council.

3) Increase property value
A garden/landscaping design can be considered an investment for the future. A tastefully designed yard can add "curb-appeal" to your house and in turn increase the overall value of ones home. Besides adding monetary value a garden can help one sell their house faster than the average home owner.

4) Growing green
A vegetable garden will ensure customers of the freshness and quality of what they are eating. In this day and age where pesticides and fertilizers are overused consider the comfort you will have when you know exactly what has touched your fruits and veggies! Plus a vegetable garden is a great way to gain responsibility and personal satisfaction.

5) Self satisfaction
Gardening and landscaping is truly becoming an art form. Planning, planting and watching your own garden grow can fill a person with satisfaction and pride. Gardening is truly a life-time hobby. The more you learn the more proficient one gets and the possibilities become endless.
